Sit and listen
he does speak
powerful words
nothing weak
common man?
Who is he?
something about Him
But he can’t see
stands up tall
hears His voice
sees a tree
makes a choice
doesn’t care
what they say
His reputation
doesn’t pay
Everyone scoffs
anyway
Sits on the edge
The branch, it sways
Looks over the heads
Immediately prays
Eyes connect
Sees His face
all his doubts
Have been erased
He feels his soul
For the very first time
His life is changing
feels sublime.
When He looked
into my eyes
my senses ignited
I Couldn’t hide
but then He said
(to everyone’s surprise)
HIs words are steady
breaking lines
smashing molds
set in place
forging a bridge
to heaven’s gates
Zacchaeus
you come down!
Tonight, with you I dine
and I accept, yet,
The crowd’s not fine
they holler and mock
the Lord’s great word
they scoff and jeer
as if they heard
him say, tonight,
with pigs I dine!
Let me tell you
who they see
I’m the lowest
I’m the beast
I rob from those
same as me
keep the riches
but wait, believe!
I’ll make it right
cause I found love
I found purpose
from the Lord above
I am the story
told so long
I am the one
in that song
The Wee Little Man
became God’s Tool
a legacy for others
actin’ a fool
proof that when
you make the choice
and listen to
God’s Great Voice
and change your life
follow the Lord
leave the sin
reap spiritual reward
that riches are greater
than silver n’ gold
eternally saved
By a story told
that shows the sinner
I too, can change!
In spite of what
The past deranged
A mind that’s set
on greater things
like what the joy
in heaven brings
Instead of chasing
a second here
Chase Eternal
Forever there.
Will you try
to see your way?
When you hear him
Calling to say
Follow me
leave the prior
Will you
Climb up higher?
Jesus and Zacchaeus
(Numbers 5:5-10)
1Then Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2And there was a man named Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector, who was very wealthy. 3He was trying to see who Jesus was, but could not see over the crowd, because he was small in stature. 4So he ran on ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see Him, since Jesus was about to pass that way.
5When Jesus came to that place, He looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry down, for I must stay at your house today.”
6So Zacchaeus hurried down and welcomed Him joyfully. 7And all who saw this began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinful man!”
8But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, half of my possessions I give to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone, I will repay it fourfold.”
9Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man too is a son of Abraham. 10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
