When Jesus died,
the Bible described
supernatural things
and so with praise we sing
Tetelestai!

we will praise and lift you High

the four inch thick
temple curtain
in jerusalem
this is certain,
it split in two
from the top to the floor
and then much more

the earth started quaking,
The whole earth shaking,
violently,
so all could see.
rocks split open and
their voices cried
Tetelestai!

adonai!
we will praise and lift you High

then many tombs
began splitting too
tombs open up
and saints are raised:
who could do that?
God be praised!
Tetelestai!
bodies of the saints
who had died
were raised, to full of life
and so they cried!

Tetelestai!

Jesus suffered
physical death,
but he was raised to life
while his spirit
descended to the realm
of the dead.
and so he said,
Jesus proclaimed with his breath
so they could hear it
his victory over death!
