Jesus welcomed sinners like me
The bruised and the battered
and the death-destined-to-be
The sinner on the cross
is in Heaven today
Because He was humble and
and asked Jesus if He could come His way

What did Jesus preach against?
What did Jesus hate?
Did you think about that?
During your last debate?
When you threw your fists?
When you lashed your words like a whip?
When you stood in your glass house?
and shattered it to pieces with your hate-filled lip!
With the wrecking ball of your own tongue!
The stench of your words, is worse than cow dung….

Jesus preached against
religious hypocrisy,
legalism, greed, and making faith
a burdensome blow
are your modelling him?
or are you part of the show?

Jesus primarily targeted
the religious elite
is that where you
take a seat?
Do you humble yourself
before the crowd
or do you sit up front
speaking so loud
Jesus spoke against
the Pharisees, Scribes, and Sadducees
For obstructing God’s grace
From sinners like me
While also condemning heart-sins
like lust, hatred, and materialism,
Where is your heart
Is that where you see Him?

Jesus braided a whip
while confronting corrupt
Temple practices
Like money-changing
and oversized taxes
He criticized those
Who made it hard
for people to access
God’s love and forgiveness,

Jesus welcomed sinners like me
the bruised and the battered
and the death-destined-to-be
The sinner on the cross
Is in Heaven today
Because He was humble and
and asked Jesus if He could come His way

So if you want to throw your blows
and you have made up your mind

That you know all the knows
and you want to hate a certain group
Well you join the long list in an insane troup!
Jesus hated sin
Not people, not race,
Not the nose that’s stuck
In the middle of your face
The one you turn up
Towards a cluster of folks
Who just happen to be named
As His favored – no hoaks
Hate the sin
Like Jesus did
and pray so hard like a little kid
Cause you’re not wiser
Than the last chump friend
There is nothing new, this repeats ’till the end
You’re not figuring out life
It’s already been done
Just open your Bible, God’s Good book
And use your time to discover the truth inside
I challenge you to take a look.
