Simply My Swank

I call my blog, Simply My Swank, because my last name is Swank.  It’s a pretty cool name and, no, we are not related to Hillary.  Thanks.  There is a lot of Swank happening in my house and I felt like the Lord was calling me to share it with some of you guys.  So here I am, writing about my life on the world wide web, and if you’re reading, you’re in on it!

I have been busy doing many different things.  Painting, writing, wood working, landscaping, DIY (but you shouldn’t have) projects, and raising two of the most beautiful children on the planet.  These kids are unreal.  Their little everythings were designed just for me: for my eyes and my soul.  Everything about them, the things they do, the things they say, the way they interact with others, the way they play together, I’m telling you folks, it all blows my mind and melts my heart.

Oh shoot, I forgot my husband, hehe.  Yeah, he is an amazing guy, and without him all that other stuff would never have happened…the stuff in that paragraph you just read.  Our story is amazing and I will tell that one too. Oh man, that’ll be a doozy.

My number one priority is being a caretaker.  I have been a stay-at-home mom for the last 4 years.  It’s been the best thing I have ever done.  I love it.  It is HARD. It’s so, so hard.  But! It’s rewarding in ways I could have never fathomed.  As the kids are getting older, and less demanding, I am beginning to find myself – just me – again.  I am realizing I’m getting to know a new me. IMG_5959

I used to work in finance making over $200k a year, which some people consider to be quite successful.  I loved the constant drive, energy and chaos of that life, but this new life here at home is more rewarding than I could have ever imagined. I am so thankful I get to stay home with my babies.  I am discovering new talents, new loves, new passions and new successes.  It’s amazing.  The possibilities are endless when you become your own boss.

My daughter was born in 2014.  We have always loved reading books to her.  My favorite books are ones that rhyme.  I have read so many of these books that I started thinking in rhyme.  I like the rhythm, I find it is soothing.  It helps my jumbled-up mind sort itself out.  So, I started writing down my rhymes and I thought maybe more people would want to read them?  So, here I sit with a blog and a couple of thoughts.  Thank you for reading.  I hope some of my stories make you laugh, cry, think, and most of all fall in love.  God is Love.

“And now these three remain:

faith, hope and love.

But the greatest of these is love.”
