There was a Giant Threat
in David’s land
a battle was at hand
between
the Philistines
and Israelites
and boy these guys were mean
The Philistines
had a giant champion
Goliath, was his name
everyday he came
he stood over 9 feet tall,
and this isn’t all
Goliath wore
heavy armor
and held a huge spear.
the Israelites saw his size
and hid away in fear
Every day
for 40 days,
Goliath dared
to sing his own praise
it was his plight
to call out any Israelite
“come and fight!”
but they were terrified
“what will we do?”
they sobbed and cried
“where is God?” they sighed
but then,
A Brave Young Shepherd
named David, walked in
He never hid
when attacked by lions and bears
he never backed down
he was never scared
he came to this place
heard Goliath mocking God
in disgrace
and righteous anger spread over his face
David said “no”
Don’t say that, I will show
and i will go
because i want everyone to know
that the God I serve
always deserves
Glory, Honor and Praise
and so for all of my days
I will go
and I will show
what God will bestow
on those who willingly go…
David, took his sling
brought his faith in God.
he picked up five stones,
and towards the giants he did trod
one for Goliath,
one for Ishbi-Benob
one for Saph
one for Lahmi
and one for An unnamed giant
with six fingers on each hand
and six toes on each foot
but one stone was only needed
in his sack
because one stone put
goliath on his back
one sling
one throw
one stone
i know
god will show
and bestow
one giant
so defiant
one boy
his faith
one god
his grace
David said “no”
Don’t say that, I will show
and i will go
because i want everyone to know
that the God I serve
always deserves
Glory, Honor and Praise
and so for all of my days
I will go
and I will show
what God will bestow
on those who willingly go…
