Word of Wisdom
- a specific, supernatural spiritual gift given by the Holy Spirit to believers for the purpose of building up the church. This gift is paired alongside the “word of knowledge.” Because these two gifts are closely related. Knowledge is understanding the facts, while wisdom is the ability to properly apply those facts.
Applying Biblical Truth: The “word of wisdom” is the supernatural ability to understand God’s will and apply biblical truth to specific, often complex or difficult life situations with great discernment.
Not Mere Human Intellect: It is distinct from natural intelligence, worldly cleverness, or the wisdom a person gains through life experience. Instead, it is a divine insight given by the Holy Spirit to navigate challenging moments, resolve conflicts, or provide godly counsel to others.
Building the Church: Like all spiritual gifts, it is not meant to make the individual look special; it is given “for the common good” to guide, comfort, and strengthen the body of Christ
The Word of Knowledge relates to understanding deep truths, having insight into God’s Word, and grasping the mysteries of God. It is about receiving and knowing the truth
The Word of Wisdom relates to speaking and applying that truth. It is the supernatural ability to take the knowledge of God and use it practically to solve problems or make decisions that honor Him
