Game Blueprint: Faith & Physics

Objective

Be the first rider to navigate the treacherous motocross track by masterfully solving physics challenges, tuning your bike’s engineering, and applying uplifting “Power of the Word” faith principles.

Components

• 1 Track Board: A winding track divided into colored spaces representing different terrain (Hills, Turns, Mud, and Straightaways).
• 4 Rider Tokens: Miniature dirt bikes with adjustable colored rings to track your “Suspension Tuning” level.
• 1 Custom Die: Features numbers 1–4, plus two special faces: 🛠️ (Wrench) and 📖 (Bible).
• 3 Specialized Card Decks:
  1. Science & Math (Physics & Engineering challenges)
  2. The Power of the Word (Faith-based boosts and ethical dilemmas)
  3. Track Hazards (Unexpected events)

Board Spaces & Gameplay

Players roll the die to move forward. However, landing on certain track features requires you to prove you know your Dirt Bike Dynamics!

1. The Big Hills (Physics Spaces)

When a rider lands on a hill space, they must draw a Science & Math card to “clear” it safely.

• Example Challenge: “To clear this double jump, calculate your momentum. If you carry too much speed, you overshoot. Do you adjust your throttle or lean back? (Roll the die: Even = Success, Odd = Crash!).”
• The Lesson: Teaches kinetic energy, gravity, and how a bike clears hills.

2. The Whoops & Bumps (Suspension Spaces)

Landing here tests your mechanical setup. Your bike must handle the rough terrain.

• Example Challenge: “The track just turned into a washboard of bumps! Your compression damping is set too stiff, causing the bike to deflect. Spend 1 Wrench Token to adjust your clickers, or move backward 2 spaces.”
• The Lesson: Teaches how suspension reacts, rebound, and the role of mechanical engineering.

3. The Sharp Berms (Turning Spaces)

Navigating a tight turn requires a mix of friction, body positioning, and centripetal force.

• Example Challenge: “A sharp 90-degree turn is ahead. To maintain traction, do you lean into the turn or push the bike down while keeping your body upright?”
• The Lesson: Explains how dirt bikes turn and the practical physics of tire grip.

The Card Decks

“The Power of the Word” Deck (Faith Boosts)

Katie Swank’s workbook uniquely pairs hard facts with scripture to inspire riders. If you roll a 📖 or land on a Faith space, draw from this deck:

• Card Idea – Perseverance: “The track is muddy and you are exhausted. ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ (Philippians 4:13). Gain +2 momentum spaces on your next turn.”
• Card Idea – Sportsmanship: “Another rider crashed ahead of you. You choose to pull over and ensure they are safe, showing grace. Your selflessness earns you 2 ‘Grace Tokens’ that protect you from your next mechanical failure.”

“Science & Math” Deck (Engineering Secrets)

If you roll a 🛠️, you can use these cards to upgrade your bike’s stats:

• Card Idea – Sprocket Physics: “You changed your rear sprocket to a larger size, increasing your low-end torque. You can now choose to re-roll any movement die when climbing a hill.”
• Card Idea – Tire Pressure: “You lowered your PSI for maximum traction in soft dirt. Advance 1 space automatically whenever you enter a Turn space.”

Winning the Game

The first rider to cross the finish line safely wins the title of Master of Mechanics and Faith! They must have at least one active “Grace Token” in their inventory to cross the finish line, proving they balanced both engineering and the power of the word along the way.
