How I Monetized my Wordpress Blog $

I love this blog for so many reasons.  I believe it is the most effective way for me to make a positive impact on society and help others come to God.  I am a stay at home mom, with two beautiful children.  As they get older and require me less, I started searching for other ways I could contribute to our family.  I am so glad that I discovered Blogging.  I love the creative outlet that this WordPress Blog allows.

I also have a natural born desire to be successful.  It is exactly the way God made me.

Matthew 25: 14-30

The Parable of the Talents

I am a worker, I am competitive and I have always done everything at full steam ahead.  The title, Quantum Leaper, is how I have been referred to in most of my occupations, and it’s true.  I tend to make overwhelming leaps into incredible success.  That is my MO. I know that this blog will be one of my greatest achievements and that fact is super exciting.

Here is a song from one of my favorite movies, let me know if you know what movie it’s from….

Back to Business:

I have learned so much in the last couple of weeks about monetizing my websites.  I am continually growing my business and I am sure there are some of you out there that want to do the same thing!  I have a couple of tips for you that I learned by making some silly mistakes:

AmazonSmile: I always type AmazonSmile because with amazon smile a portion of all my purchases and earnings go to a Charity of my choice – Haiti Foundation Against Poverty.  We sponsor 4 children from this Charity and we love them so much.  I pray you feel the same way and sponsor children of your own!

I used to copy and paste the text link on my AmazonSmile account when I would write about products that I buy or recommend on my blog.  I thought that was all I had to do to get paid by AmazonSmile.  NOPE.  WRONG.  (read further for info on this…♥)

I also thought I had to upgrade my WordPress Blog account to a Premium account, which costs an extra $200, in order to have Amazon Monetization, but that’s not true either.  I just needed to do this:

I simply signed up for a free AmazonSmile business account.  Here is the link to a great YouTube video that shows you how to do it step by step.  I had to provide them with my tax information and give them a bank account where my earnings could be placed.  DUH.  How could I think that just a simple copy and paste could do anything.  Did I think that they were going to air-drop my money to my front door with a drone?  Silly me.

Now that I am better educated, here is how I properly create my ads.

Your New Business Account

After starting your own Amazon Business Account, you will have a new business Stripe at the top of your Amazon Screen.

The next step is to search for my product.  For this example, I chose the latest and greatest leather booties because I am obsessed with this look right now! I love how cute leather booties are and being a busy mom, I demand comfortable and stylish fashion.

Pretty easy so far, right?

Once I found the booties that I love, that I would buy myself, or I already own and I want to share with others, I clicked on that item.  I chose these Lucky Brand Booties, that are such a great price at only $42.99 for my size, they are Prime, and Leather too! AMAZING! Those are all elements that I look for when shopping on AmazonSmile.Screen Shot 2018-09-20 at 7.47.12 AM

Here is a very essential personal tip when it comes to advertising and selling – I only promote things I love.  That is the reason I have always been so successful in sales.  I never promote something I don’t LOVE and BELIEVE in.  Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy.  It allows my readers and clients to absolutely trust me and ensures that they will always buy from my site and store.

Then next step is to build the ad.  I use my Apple Desktop computer to write my blogs and create my ads.  I find that my desktop is the easiest and fastest way to write and design.  I tried using my iphone once and it almost ended up at the bottom of the Pacific.  EEEK!

…back to building the ad, using the function, shift+command+4, I take a screen shot of my favorite picture of the Lucky Brand Booties.  After taking the screen shot, I upload it to my favorite photo editor and personalized the picture.  IMG_2C990E77E712-1

I use SimplyMySwank for my AmazonSmile monetization promotions. For these booties, I just added a ink mark of my blog – SimplyMySwank.  You can do what you like, maybe add the brand? or a fun sticker?  I love this app because it is really easy to use and why complicate things?  Learning all the other stuff is hard enough, don’t you agree?

This screen shot is great because it displays the front and the back of the boots.  Shopping online is easier if I get to see all aspects of the product I am purchasing.  I love shopping with AmazonSmile because it is a Prime account and all of my Prime purchases can be returned for free.  If these boots don’t fit perfectly then they just go back in the mail…simple as that!

Now here’s the funny part, because I used to do this ALL WRONG.  And now, I know the correct way and it is so easy to do.  ♥ Remember how I said I used to copy and paste the website html, you know, the long description at the top of the search engine bar?  It looks like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Lucky-Brand-Womens-Brindle-Medium/dp/B06ZXYN6GT/ref=sr_1_14?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1537454777&sr=1-14&nodeID=7141123011&psd=1&keywords=leather%2Bbooties&th=1&psc=1

yup, I used to think that that link would monetize SimplyMySwank.  IT DOESN’T!

I need to click on the TEXT section of my new Amazon Associates Stripe.Screen Shot 2018-09-21 at 5.54.27 AM.png

Then I hit command+c to copy the text link – which is the CORRECT way to get money for my ad – it is connected to my tax information and my bank account.  Once my code is copied, I can command+v (paste) my Amazon Associates Code anywhere!  It’s just that simple!Screen Shot 2018-09-21 at 5.55.03 AM

https://amzn.to/2DjEB1A – this code can be embedded into your Blog Ads.

So, now I want to use this link, right?  Simply click on the picture so it is highlighted
and change the picture link to my Amazon Associates code: https://amzn.to/2DjEB1A.

This allows my reader to simply click on the picture and it takes them right to the Amazon Website so they can purchase the product – or in this case, the Lucky Brand Boots.  Or I can highlight any part of my text and use the link button to add my Amazon Associates Code.  (or simply hit command+v)

See how I used the code over and over again in that paragraph?  That’s how easy it is to embed the code into my blog text.

Here are some writing tips – because I make mistakes all the time!  I want to make sure that my content is easy to read – so I researched the most effective blogging fonts.  Also, I make sure that the pictures I use in my Blog aren’t too big, or over-used.  Content is everything.  I read my posts out loud too.  This trick is the best tool.  If I read my content to myself I can hear and correct the grammatical errors in my rhythm. I can also hear if I am using run on sentences.  I hope these tips help you with your writing like they help me!IMG_ADD238113416-1

Learning all of these things were really overwhelming at first.  It was like learning a whole new language.  But now that I know, I find using my Amazon Business Stripe so easy and fulfilling.  Thank the Good Lord! If you have any questions, I am happy to answer them.  If you have any bumps in the road just leave a comment and I’ll get back to you!
