while you sit
twiddling thumbs
life is wasting
there on your bum
you should get
up off that phone
and live a dream
wander, roam
take a class
read a book
learn to skate
learn to cook
walk, run, jump
exercise
love yourself
become so wise
life is just
a blink away
and when you meet
that very last day
will you look back
and say, well done
you did stuff
and you had fun
or will you think
about lazy you
that didn’t even do
one single do
on a list
up in your head
that no one saw
or no one read
that crazy list
of, yeah, I will
but not today
I’ll simply fill
this twenty-four
with sit and rest
and look at feeds
and scoff and jest
and drone myself
into a mess
of complete addiction
to nothing less
but ones and zeros
set up to fool
any common
any mule
make today
one of control
make today
a brand new role
snap right out
of your lazy routine
where 4 or 5 hours
your face is green
that phone is bleeding
your mind away
so go have fun
go and play
and lock that phone
into a space
away from you
a distant place
and motivate yourself
to tremendous greatness
the possibilities are simply
limitless, weightless
not bogged down
by a sick addiction
no one sees it
it’s a sneaky affliction
until your phone displays
your average time
and your eyes bulge out
oh no! not fine!
how did I see
that horrible number
makes me feel
a slumpy wonder
I must amend
I must change
become brand new
and rearrange
Motivate myself
my daily routine
and put away
that addiction screen.
Sometimes happy and fun distractions can be the most detrimental in our lives, days pass by too quickly, when time flies by so quickly anyway.
Take time to engage with others, get off your silly phones and look around and see the beautiful world God created. Staring at options, or things that could be, when all of your beautiful realities are just wasting away, collecting dust or simply lost because you paid no attention to them or it.
God is so good. Pray for motivation and peace in your daily routines. Snap out of the addiction you have with your phone and promise yourself that you will limit your screen time to just emergencies.
Go for an awesome walk today, grab a coffee with a friend and leave your phone at home, go shopping at your favorite store, bake Cookies from a recipe in a book, just leave your phone locked up in a place where you can forget about it for a day or two.
If you have decided to work out as a substitute to your phone time, that is PERFECT! Get to it! ENJOY the endorphins that come from a great sweaty workout! That is the perfect substitute. Eat healthy today, love your God, and Love yourself. Amen!
Proverbs of Solomon
Proverbs 10: 1-4
A wise son brings joy to his father,
but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.2 Ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value,
but righteousness delivers from death.3 The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry,
but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.
4 Lazy hands make for poverty,
but diligent hands bring wealth
Love this and love your writing style too! I enjoyed a walk today with my husband and watched my son play flag football, but the first thing I do every morning is spend time in the Word and draw close to God. Thanks for sharing this!
